Career Opportunities
Graduates of the Department of Midwifery have a wide range of career opportunities across various areas of healthcare, supported by their professional knowledge, clinical skills, digital health literacy, and innovative perspective. Graduates may work in public and private hospitals, maternity and children’s hospitals, family health centers, community health centers, antenatal education programs, labor and delivery units, neonatal units, reproductive health and family planning centers, and other healthcare institutions providing maternal and infant health services.
In addition, under the Regulation on the Independent Practice of Healthcare Professionals, published in the Official Gazette No. 32856 dated March 29, 2025, midwives are among the healthcare professionals who are permitted to practice independently. Accordingly, graduates who meet the requirements set forth in the relevant legislation and complete the necessary licensing procedures may establish a healthcare professional service unit and practice midwifery independently.
In line with advances in healthcare technologies, our graduates may also pursue career opportunities in innovative fields such as digital health applications, telehealth services, remote pregnancy monitoring, artificial intelligence-assisted healthcare systems, health technologies, and digital patient education. The integration of technology into midwifery care provides graduates with new opportunities for professional development and specialization not only in traditional clinical settings but also in the healthcare services of the future.
Graduates who wish to pursue an academic career may continue their education through postgraduate programs and work as academics or researchers at universities. They may conduct scientific research in areas such as women’s health, maternal and neonatal health, reproductive health, community health, digital health, and midwifery education.
Our Department places particular importance on providing students with opportunities for internationalization, academic mobility, and exposure to different healthcare systems. International academic collaborations, student and staff exchange programs, joint scientific studies, international congresses, and research projects support students in developing a global health perspective. Graduates may also pursue career opportunities in midwifery abroad, provided that they meet the professional recognition, language proficiency, and legal requirements of the respective countries.
Our Department supports entrepreneurship, innovation, and interdisciplinary collaboration, aiming to equip graduates with the competencies required to take active roles in health technology projects, innovative maternal and infant health initiatives, consultancy and educational services, scientific research, and national and international health programs.
