Message from the Head of Department
Dear Students, Esteemed Colleagues, and Valued Stakeholders,
As the Department of Midwifery at the Faculty of Health Sciences, Alanya University, we are pleased to have embarked on our educational journey with the aim of contributing to the future of the midwifery profession, which plays a vital role in protecting and promoting the health of women, mothers, newborns, and communities.
Midwifery is a well-established and autonomous healthcare discipline that integrates scientific knowledge, clinical skills, ethical responsibility, effective communication, and respect for human dignity. The primary aim of our department is to educate midwives who embrace evidence-based practice, demonstrate high levels of professional competence, think critically, engage in research, adopt lifelong learning as a fundamental principle, and provide woman-centred care.
Within our educational programme, we place great importance not only on helping our students acquire theoretical knowledge but also on enabling them to develop their professional knowledge and skills through practical training, clinical experiences, scientific research, and community service activities. At the same time, we aim to prepare our students as innovative and entrepreneurial healthcare professionals who follow national and international developments and are capable of leading change in the field of health.
With the dynamism and enthusiasm of a newly established department, our priorities include building a strong academic culture, producing high-quality scientific research, developing national and international collaborations, and contributing to the academic and professional advancement of midwifery.
We are committed to providing an educational environment in which our students feel valued, can express their ideas freely, develop their scientific curiosity, and build their professional identities with confidence.
I firmly believe that, together with all our students, academics, and stakeholders, we will establish a strong academic structure as we continue our journey of educating highly qualified midwives who will contribute to a healthier future for women, families, and society.
