Our Department
About the Department
The Department of Midwifery was established in 2026 with the aim of educating qualified midwives who are committed to ethical values, possess scientific thinking skills, and are capable of contributing to the promotion of women’s, maternal, newborn, child, family, and community health.
Our Department adopts a contemporary, evidence-based, and holistic approach to education, addressing the health needs of individuals and communities, with particular emphasis on women’s health, pregnancy, childbirth, the postpartum period, newborn health, reproductive health, and community-based midwifery services. The integration of digital health applications, health technologies, artificial intelligence-assisted systems, and innovative educational methods into midwifery education and practice is regarded as an important component of the educational process. Accordingly, students are encouraged to become healthcare professionals who can use technology effectively, safely, and ethically. In addition to professional knowledge and clinical skills, the Department aims to develop students’ competencies in critical thinking, problem-solving, digital health literacy, artificial intelligence literacy, communication, teamwork, ethical decision-making, innovative thinking, and lifelong learning.
The Department currently has a total of four academic staff members, including one Professor, two Assistant Professors, and one Research Assistant. In addition to their educational and teaching responsibilities, our academic staff conduct scientific research in the fields of women’s health, pregnancy and childbirth, newborn health, reproductive health, community health, digital health, artificial intelligence, and midwifery practices. Our Department is committed to educating midwives who closely follow scientific and technological developments, demonstrate a high level of professional competence, engage in research and critical inquiry, and are capable of adapting to evolving healthcare needs.
